Pistorius found guilty of culpable homicide

South African Athlete Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of culpable homicide for the killing of model Reeva Steenkamp.

The verdict carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

The judge presiding over the trial had previously cleared him of murder on the grounds that an intent to kill had not been proven by the prosecution.

Pistorius was also found guilty on one charge of discharging a firearm in public, though ruled not guilty on another similar account. He was also cleared of illegally possesing ammunition.

Sentencing is expected to take place in a matter of weeks. Reeva Steenkamp was shot an killed on Valentines day 2013.
