Colombia grants awards on National Human Rights Day

Human rights defenders said that the Colombian armed conflict is not the only reason why human rights are violated. One of the most popular winners was the Wayuu indigenous leader Matilde Arpushana who received the Yearly Award for the Defense of the Human Rights for her work in favor of her community
and for trying to stress the serious crisis in the department of Guajira. Year to date, 30 human rights defenders have been murdered in Colombia. TeleSUR
