President Obama was looking to play golf while in New York on Labor Day Weekend, but was turned away by several area golf courses.

Among them were some of the most exclusive, including the Trump National Golf Club and Willow Ridge.

It appears that the courses were only given a day or two of notice, and having the president on the grounds can require shutting out club members.

Annual fees at some of the region’s tonier golf institutions can cost upwards of 100 thousand dollars a year.

As Labor Day weekend is among the busiest times for the courses, it’s believed that none wanted to cause their regular clientele that level of inconvenience.

“It’s probably the most important weekend of the year for golf and 240 members are not going to say ‘hey let the president come out I’m not gonna play this weekend.'” [Via WNBC]

The president wasn’t alone in having trouble finding a place to tee off.

A few of the clubs that couldn’t accommodate him were also unable to make room for the King of Morocco, who was hoping to play a few holes as well.

It’s unclear if it was related to the lack of club access, but President Obama ended up changing his travel plans, returning to the White House instead of staying overnight in New York.
