Celebrities bid farewell to the late Joan Rivers

The late comedienne Joan Rivers once jokingly wrote about wanting an elaborate funeral.

But for family and friends mourning her loss, the private Manhattan funeral was of a more intimate nature.

Rivers died on Thursday at the age of 81 after being put on life support following an outpatient procedure where she stopped breathing.

Celebrity guests attending Sunday's funeral included comedian Whoopi Goldberg, actress Sarah Jessica Parker, Howard Stern and Rosie O'Donnell.

Tycoon Donald Trump, whose "Celebrity Apprentice" reality TV show Rivers won in 2009, also paid his respects.

She was trailblazer for women in comedy throughout her energetic career that lasted more than 50 years.

Many believe that Rivers, known for her brash humor and raspy voice, wasn't even finished.

With the cause of her death still unknown, the State Health Department is investigating the endoscopy center where Rivers was treated before she passed away.
