Search continues for bodies after quake rocks Bosnian mine

The heartbreaking wait for families at the foot of a mine in central Bosnia.

Five coal miners died on Friday after an earthquake triggered a gas explosion and tunnel collapse.

Now rescuers struggle to bring their bodies to the surface of Raspotocje mine.

Dozens of men were trapped deep underground for 20 hours.

Twenty nine miners were pulled free. But relief turned to anguish when it became clear that not all the 34 miners had survived.

(SOUNDBITE) (Bosnian) REGIONAL MINING INSPECTOR, MURAGA DURANOVIC, SAYING:

"The rescue teams have been working since this morning and we have four bodies of those killed placed in safe place now. Two of those bodies have been brought to the surface and taken to the city morgue."

The two bodies, that have been recovered, are taken in this van to the city morgue.

The coal mines around Zenica are notorious for deadly accidents.

This is the third incident at this facility this year.
