Nothing can hamper a relaxing day on the water like running into a shark. Two kayakers in Plymouth, Massachusetts recently encountered a great white. On Wednesday at about 6 P.M. Ida Parker and Kristin Orr hit the water because they wanted to see seals.

They were about 100 to 150 yards off the coast in separate kayaks. The women had been enjoying the calm water and talking. Out of nowhere, a shark’s head appeared.

Its teeth were only inches away from the women’s skin. Parker said “It came up from underneath my best friend’s boat. It breached out of the water grabbed onto the boat and flipped us both over and took off after that.”

The women were left in the water, as both of their boats were overturned. A witness on the shore contacted officials after seeing Parker and Orr submerged and calling out for help.

The women stayed in the sea terrified with no clue as to where the shark was as they waited for the Plymouth Harbormaster to arrive. Fortunately, they were pulled up in the boat unharmed.

Both were visibly shaken. The State Police Air Wing searched for the 12 to 14-foot long shark but had no luck finding it.
