Britain will not be 'cowed' by terrorist threats as IS threaten to kill British hostage

British Prime Minister David Cameron has reiterated his determination not to bow to terrorist threats.

Islamic State militants, responsible for the beheading of two US journalists, say a British hostage will be the next to die.

Cameron insists he will not negotiate with terrorists: “At the G8 I launched an initiative to try to get other countries to sign up to a very clear doctrine that in the case of of a terrorist kidnap no ransom should be paid. Britain continues with this policy, America continues with this policy. But we need to redouble the efforts to make sure the other countries are good to their word.”

Foreign Minister Phillip Hammond said Britain will look at every “every possible option” to assist the hostage.

The captive, whose identity has not been confirmed, was abducted last year near the Atmeh refugee camp on the border between Turkey and Syria.

The hostage is a father in his mid-40’s, his family live in Scotland.
