Step Up All In moves to Miami for ultimate dance contest

The fifth entry in the ‘Step Up’ movie franchise reunites the series’ favourite dancers – minus Hollywood heart-throb Channing Tatum – for more dance battles.

The scene, has moved from Miami to Las Vegas.

Alyson Stoner plays dancer Camille: “‘Step Up 5: Step Up All In’ has people from every single ‘Step Up’ all in one. We’re in Vegas and the crews are coming together and trying to win this dance competition called ‘The Vortex’,” she says.

Sean, played by Ryan Guzman and his dance crew, The Mob, are struggling to make it in Los Angeles. They decide to head home to Miami, leaving Sean behind. He sets about building up a new crew, whose mission is to win a Las Vegas-based TV dance competition that looks an awful lot like X Factor.

“We do have a formula that is formulaic: the romance and the dancing,” says Ryan Guzman. “But there’s a fine line between keeping it too much dance and too serious. So, I think we found that with ‘Step Up All In’ if we just laugh, have fun, make fun of ourselves.”

The film has opened to mixed reviews with one critic calling its dialogue “tired” and the dance sequences “less fresh” than “the earlier Miami adventure”.

It’s nevertheless worth mentioning that all the dance stunts are performed without any special effects – leading to some breathtaking scenes.

‘Step Up All In’ is on worldwide release now.
