Washington: Candlelit vigil held for murdered teen Michael Brown

Crowds gathered outside the White House in Washington on Monday evening (August 25) in a candlelit vigil for murdered black teenager Michael Brown.
His shooting by white police officer Darren Wilson has sparked protests throughout the nation.
Some of those attending the vigil said the US has deep-rooted problems concerning racial integration.
“I think that we have a very long way to go when it comes to equality”, said one of the rally’s organisers. “I think we have a long way to go when it comes to immigrants, anyone of colour, whether they are Latino or black, Asian… I think that we have a long way to go when it comes to giving everybody a fair chance.”
Earlier on Monday, 4,500 mourners attended Michael Brown’s funeral.
Several onlookers raised their hands in a gesture often combined with the “hands up, don’t shoot” chant heard at protests since the 18-year-old’s death in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9.
