An elderly woman in New Jersey has proved that you’re never too old to fulfill your dream. In 97-year-old Vera Abruzzi’s case, her lifelong desire was to drive a big rig and just recently she was able to do it.

Abruzzi got behind the wheel of the truck in a parking lot in Linden. About three weeks ago, Abruzzi had a chat with her grandson and mentioned that she had always wanted to drive a tractor trailer truck.

Her grandchild enlisted the help of Winsor's Tractor Trailer Driving School to make that dream a reality. This past Wednesday, the grandmother of four, and great-grandmother of seven got a free lesson.

With no fear at all, she jumped in the driver’s seat and drove the 70-foot big rig around the lot. She reached a speed of 20 miles per hour, and with the exception of one tight corner, she did pretty good.

When her cruise was over, she was all smiles and later kissed her grandson for helping her check one off on the old bucket list.

Abruzzi said she also hopes to pilot a plane, but the brave great-grandma admits she doesn’t want to go too fast.
