Health checks conducted on murder suspects

Indonesian police are conducting medical checks of the two suspects connected to the death of an American woman whose body was found inside a suitcase on the resort island of Bali.

19 year-old Heather Mack was arrested with her boyfriend, 21 year old Tommy Schaefer on Wednesday (August 13) after a taxi driver found the battered body of Sheila von Wiese-Mack, Heather's mother, in a suitcase at the parking lobby of the St. Regis luxury hotel in Nusa Dua, Bali.

The couple were found at a budget hotel about 1.6 km (1 mile) away from the St. Regis hotel after a day-long police search.

Officials say routine health checks were being carried out on the suspects for investigation purposes.

A hospital official said von Wiese-Mack had been repeatedly hit on the face and head with a blunt object.
