Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued the detailed verdict on the long marches by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) today (Thursday). The detailed verdict says that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s demands are unconstitutional. It says that demanding resignation from the Prime Minister, dissolution of federal and provincial assemblies, reformation of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and establishment of technocrats’ government are illegal.
Court had issued the short order yesterday in which it had said that unconstitutional long march and sit-in could not be allowed. In its detailed verdict, Lahore High Court has mentioned that PAT and PTI have resolved to stage a sit-in at D-Chowk, Islamabad, and to continue sitting there unless their demands are met.
According to the detailed verdict, the full bench of the High Court, headed by Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan, has ordered both PTI and PAT not to stage any sit-in in Islamabad, declaring the long marches and sit-in as unconstitutional. The order says that protesters and their leaders may have to face legal repercussions in case of violation of the constitution.
According to the media reports, Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri’s demands have been declared unconstitutional by the court. It is pertinent to mention here that LHC’s detailed verdict has come at a time when leaders of both the parties have already left for Islamabad.
