Liberian president apologises for high Ebola virus death toll

Liberian president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has pledged over thirteen point four million euros to health workers who have been fighting the Ebola oubreak in the country.
The funds are to be used to help with insurance and death benefits, to buy more ambulances and increase the number of treatment centres.
Speaking a press conference in Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf said:
“If we haven’t done enough so far, I come here to apologise to you for that.”
Meanwhile in Nigeria, the government has been looking at ways of curtailing the spread of Ebola in the country.
However, many people have taken to social media to make jokes about the virus and suggest alternative ways of avoiding it. There are even skeptics of its existence.
Social media-users have been sharing pictures of the Ebola hug, the Ebola handshake and the Ebola kiss.
Some people believe that adding salt to water helps ward off the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, Guinea has denied closing its borders with Sierra Leone and Liberia despite the country’s health minister announcing the measure on Saturday.
