Last planes carrying MH17 crash victims arrive at Netherlands military airport

STORY: The two last planes carrying the remains of some of the victims of the downed Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17 arrived at Eindhoven military airport in the Netherlands on Saturday (July 26).

All 298 people on board the flight perished when it was brought down over rebel-held territory in eastern Ukraine, where Kiev is struggling to quell a pro-Russian separatist rebellion.

The bodies were flown to the Netherlands from the government-controlled city of Kharkiv, after having been transported there by train from the rebel-controlled region of Donetsk earlier in the week.

With 193 of the dead from the Netherlands, the Dutch have been taking a leading role in the international effort to recover and identify the bodies and investigate the cause of the crash.

The Boeing 777 was downed more than a week ago in eastern Ukraine en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.
