The goal is for Lentil, the so-called Ambassadog, to teach people that those who have physical abnormalities have no control over what they look like and hopefully show everyone that kindness is the key.

Lentil the French Bulldog was born in February of 2013. Although he is undoubtedly adorable, he had problems as a young pup.

Lentil came into the world with a cleft hard/soft palate, lip, and nose. At four months old, his palate was surgically repaired.

His nose and his lip however were left untouched because for dogs, the deformity is only a cosmetic issue that has no has negative impact on their day to day routine.

The deformity also helps get the point across to humans that he lives with something that sets him apart from other pooches. It’s not only his birth defect though that makes him the perfect ambassador.

Most folks are immediately fond of him, as he is a perfectly calm and well-mannered canine. July is National Cleft and Craniofacial awareness month and Lentil’s foster mom has started a Kickstarter campaign to travel around the US with the dog to greet and bring smiles to kids with facial deformities.
