Madrid, Jul 22 (EFE).- Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez underwent medical tests in Madrid on Tuesday before signing a six-year contract with Real Madrid FC, media reported.

The 23-year-old player will head to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium where he will sign the deal with Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez.

Rodriguez was transferred from AS Monaco for $108 million and is set to be officially presented at the Bernabeu later Tuesday in a ceremony similar to the welcome given to German midfielder Toni Kroos last week.

Rodriguez, who is set to wear the number 10 shirt, will take home $9.4 million per year.

The player, who won the Golden Boot award in the 2014 soccer World Cup after scoring six goals in five outings, is expected to join his new team in its pre-season tour in the US on August 1.
