Madrid, Jul 15 (EFE).- FIFA President Joseph Blatter told a press conference on Monday that he was surprised when he heard Lionel Messi had won the Golden Ball in the 2014 Brazil World Cup. However, he added that Messi's goals were decisive for his team throughout the championship.
When asked about Suarez, Blatter said that as a former football player he was sorry for the sanction, but that as FIFA's President he had to accept such punishment and hoped that the Uruguayan would be back on the field soon.
Regarding the ticket scandal during the World Cup, the Swiss stressed that poof was needed before one could talk about corruption.
