The Wild Horses at Wild Horse Pass

These are just some of the beautiful wild horses that inhabit the great desert plain of the Gila River Indian Reservation at the foot of the Estrella Mountains straddling Maricopa and Pinal Counties in Arizona. Speeding commuters on their way to Phoenix on Highway 347 are lucky to catch a glimpse of them, but few ever stop to enjoy them. The best time to catch them is around sunset, but here they were out in the 100 degree mid-day heat, harvesting the delicious bean pods off the mesquite trees. Still, I thought I’d open and close with some sunset stills of those gorgeous mountains. Enjoy!
