Bomb blasts rock Egyptian capital

Officials scour the site of a bomb explosion at a Cairo metro station Wednesday.

A series of minor blasts rocked the Egyptian capital during morning rush hour.

At least eight people were wounded at various metro stations.

The governor of Kalyoubia, Mohamed Abdel Zaher, said the organizations responsible should be dealt with "harshly".

(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) GOVERNOR OF KALYOUBIA, MOHAMED ABDEL ZAHER, SAYING:

"This is wicked and cowardly terrorism. The fact that there is more than one blast is evidence that it is organised. The harsh and strict manner by which these organisations are dealt with, should be accepted."

A car bomb also detonated in front of a courthouse, leaving one injured.
