27-year-old Ramon Morales is a hero.

At about 1 in the morning on Sunday, June 22nd, he was flagged down and informed that a woman was sitting on railroad tracks.

When he got close to the tracks to investigate, he saw warning lights and the bell sounded, making it clear an oncoming train was headed towards the female. Without hesitation, Morales bolted onto the tracks and pulled her to safety right before the train passed.

The female was distraught. As she sat on the pavement sobbing, the brave officer kept his hand on her shoulder to stop her from running back towards the tracks.

Sgt. Neinast, of the Richmond Police Department remarked “He got there just in time. Saved this woman's life without regard for his own…He's a hero. He went way above and beyond the call of duty to save someone else's life.”

The female reportedly asked Morales why he pulled her off the tracks. She was taken to Oak Bend Hospital for assessment.

Morales has been with the department for only 10 months.
