Ex-military commander turned president, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, has continued using Egypt's courts for political persecution, sentencing two Al-Jazeera journalists to seven years in prison and another to 10 years.

Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed, who have also worked for BBC, CNN and New York Times were convicted of aiding the Muslim Brotherhood and reporting false news.

Evidence shown by the prosecution included a BBC podcast, family photos and a pop video by the Australian singer Gotye.

Baher Mohamed was given an extra three years for having a single spent bullet casing he found during a protest.

All this, one day after the US released $575 million dollars in military aid to Egypt, frozen since the military coup last year.

Hundreds of supporters or suspected members of the Brotherhood have also been silenced by Sisi's courts. International criticism has starting pouring in, but will it be enough?
