Iraq refugees flee the violence

The lines of cars stretch as far as the eye can see.

Hundreds of thousands of people are fleeing their homes in Mosul after fighters from the militant Sunni group ISIS seized a number of Iraqi towns and cities in the past week.

They've left their homes and belongings to escape the fierce fighting and heavy bloodshed.

"On the day of the attack there were huge crowds at the check points. The luckier ones had friends and families and working permits and thus could obtain easy access to this region. The more unfortunate had to wait and queue hours and hours in the bright sun, temperatures rise about 40 degrees now, waiting for the permission to enter safer areas."
