Established in 2002 by snowboard icon Terje Haakonsen, leading event organizers and industry representatives, the World Snowboard Tour (formerly TTR World Tour) was the first rookie to pro series which connected the world's most prestigious international snowboard events with amateur events worldwide. Today, the World Snowboard Tour features more than 300 events globally with over 3,000 riders, competing for glory and a prize fund of $2.5 million in front of crowds of up to 35,000!
With the biggest names in both male and female snowboarding such as Shaun White, Travis Rice, Sebastien Toutant, Jamie Anderson and Kelly Clark having all won titles and fame on the prestigious tour, it's not surprising that to be crowned World Snowboard Tour champion is the most sought after snowboarding title. The athletes on the tour are constantly progressing the sport with 80 feet airs, technical rail setups and triple corks all featured in this innovative and authentic series.
The biggest events in Europe, Asia and America attract riders to compete against each other across 3 freestyle disciplines. Events are structured by a Star system, ranging from 1 to 6 Star which award increasing levels of prize money and ranking points.
EDGEsport will be showing live HD coverage, highlights and lifestyle programmes from each of the top level 6 Star events in the 2012/2013 season.
