You are not a leader of a community but a leader of the nation. You have always struggled for harmony among people belonging to different sects and faiths: Tahir Ashrafi
The founder and leader of MQM Mr. Altaf Hussain has said that terrorism has engulfed whole Pakistan and it is not possible for a single party to combat terrorism. He added that the nation will have to take a united stand against the menace of terrorism.
He expressed these views while talking to Head of Pakistan Ulema Council Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi at the International Secretariat. The Secretary General Pakistan Ulema Council Shahibzada Mahmood Qasmi was also present.
“Terrorists have declared a war against Pakistan. The attacks on Karachi Airport and defence installations is a cause of concern for the whole nation. The situation dictates we must eliminate terrorists from our country, “ Mr. Hussain expressed his concern to Tahir Ashrafi.
Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi agreed with Mr. Hussain and said that the whole country had become Waziristan and we would have to unite to deliver the nation from the menace of terrorism.
He congratulated Mr. Hussain on his release. He said, “ You are not a leader of a community but a leader of the nation. You have always struggled for harmony among people belonging to different sects and faiths. The nation appreciates your efforts in this regard. Your rivals have been doing smear campaigns and negative propaganda for the last 36 years. They accused of you of torture and violence. However, the way your workers controlled their emotion after your arrest and remained peaceful proved all propaganda wrong. Their action proved that MQM is a peace loving party. By the Grace of Allah you have emerged triumphant. Allah will give you triumphs in future too.”
Mr. Hussain said that he believed in pacifism and I had always preach peace. He said that he was happy that his workers and supporters followed his teachings and remained peaceful.
“One has to endure hardships in one’s struggle against injustices. Struggle against injustices require sacrifices and takes time to achieve its goals, “ Mr. Hussain said.
Mr. Hussain praised Hafiz Ashrafi and Pakistan Ulema Council’s efforts for sectarian and religious harmony. He also prayed to Allah for the protection of army and people from terrorists.
