Islamic militants parade in captured Iraqi military vehicles in Mosul

Since Tuesday, black-clad fighters who do not recognize the region's modern frontiers have seized Mosul and Tikrit, as well as other towns and cities north of Baghdad.
Security has been stepped up to prevent the militants from reaching the capital -- which is itself divided into Sunni and Shi'ite neighborhoods and was the scene of ferocious sectarian fighting in 2006-2007.
