Powerful Lightning Strike Obliterates A Tree

Recently surveillance footage was released online, showing lightning striking a tree in Saratoga Spa State Park in New York State.
Lightning is one of those unpredictable phenomena. You never know exactly when it will strike and what it will hit.
Recently surveillance footage was released online, showing lightning striking a tree in Saratoga Spa State Park in New York State. Just prior to hitting the tree, a flash filled the entire area with a bright light.
Right after that, lightning came down unbelievably quickly and hit the tree.. Shattered pieces of wood went airborne in the vicinity and a huge portion of the affected tree soon came crashing down.
Fortunately no injures were reported. The US National Weather Service Caribou, Maine posted the footage to Facebook and YouTube to highlight the dangers of lightning. A caption notes “This breathtaking lightning video from Saratoga Springs, NY, shows the incredible power of lightning, and why you don't want to be standing under a tree! When thunder roars, go indoors!”
In another recent, terrifying lightning related incident, a Canadian couple near Tofield had been traveling down a scenic rural highway when their vehicle was hit by lightning. Directly following the strike, a fireball engulfed Al and Betty Perry’s still moving pickup truck.
Luckily, the couple wasn’t seriously hurt.
