Steven Naismith will be wearing the blue jersey of Everton FC this coming season, after the former Rangers striker penned a four-year deal with the Merseyside club on Wednesday.

The Scottish International appeared in the summer transfer window as a free agent, after failing to come to an agreement with his former employers over the terms of his new contract. According to reports, the striker had filed a formal complaint against transferring his contract to a new company in June.

Nevertheless Naismith, who capped 140 appearances for Rangers, is set to join the Toffees training camp at Finch Farm by the end of the week, after finalizing the provisos of his deal with the Merseyside team.

With Steven Pienaar set to reunite with Tottenham Hotspur after completing his six month loan spell, and reports suggesting Marouane Fellaini's could move away from Goodison Park, Naismith is now expected to fill the void upfront.

The Scott, when talking about the player said: "He will be an excellent addition to the players we already have and we look forward to him being fit and ready to play at the start of the season. He is an established international who can play in a number of positions. He has a flexibility we always like in our players."

When asked to comment on his transfer, the 25-year old revealed that he was over the moon upon getting the opportunity to play for a club as big as Everton, and was looking forward towards working alongside his new team-mates. He also tagged the English league as the best in the world.

He further expressed his gratitude towards the Toffees chairman, Bill Kenwright for vesting his faith in him, and vowed to vindicate his trust of signing him by giving a strong performance next season.
