Film Name : ZINDAGI...A Life of Kinner

Synopsis:
Jawala Singh is a Nambardar (Mayor) of a Village. After 12 years of his marriage, baby takes birth at his house. but when he comes to know that, the child is not a normal boy, he is a KHUSRA (Third Gender, Kinner, Enuch) , then they start hiding the truth from all the villagers and others. The family looses all the happiness after the brith of this child. They treat the child as a boy.
When he starts going to school then his friends come to know the truth and try to make him naked, because the way he behaves with them clearly shows that he must be a Kinner (eunuch).
The Khusra(( Eunuch)) community comes to know about the truth of the child as a EUNUCH from the DAI (Nurse of the village who knows the truth informs them.)
One sudden day they come to Jawala singh's house and try to take their child along to stay with the Khusra (EUNUCH) community. The family does not agree to give their child. There are many arguments that go on...but in the end Jawala singh (Child's father) is compelled to give away his son to the EUNUCH community.
After 15 years Jawala Singh's son- who was born a kinner (eunuch) comes back to his village and comes to his house too, his mother still has a ray of hope to get her child back. But when she comes to know that he is a eunuch now, he does not even recognize his mother and expects a donation from them. All the hopes and desires got shattered...

My Short Film "Zindagi ...a life". Is not just a film for me. Its an experiment to try those topics either we never wanted to talk about or those rarely being discussed. I have chosen a unique topic than most of the filmmakers, which touched my heart while I was Studying in Barjindra College Faridkot.
This films is about dark side of Indian society where Our culture give right to Hijras (Khusra) to take our newly born minor kids who are handicap like them-their kind of...I just tried to represent the emotions and situation of the child's and his parents, how it effects to them. What makes Hijras to take the child? Why it's their necessity? Why they are forced to live this kind of life???
