A lone coffin now sits at a temple in Istanbul where an innocent bystander was killed in Turkey.

The man was shot Thursday during clashes between police and protesters.

The death has renewed anger and prompted more protests.

Clashes continued into Friday, leaving two protesters and seven policemen injured.

The country is approaching the first anniversary of nationwide anti-government demonstrations challenging Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.

In Ankara, Erdogan condemned the protesters in front of his ruling AK Party.

"They said it was the anniversary of the protests and what did they do? They terrorized that neighborhood. They attacked it with petrol bombs, masks and fireworks. A petrol bomb landed inside a police van and policemen were wounded."

Erdogan has had a difficult 12 months.

His troubles began with the protests last year, followed by a corruption scandal
