Robert Pattinson was out for the launch of his latest movie in Cannes, even stopping to pose for a selfie or two.

Of course, it drove one or two of his fans wild.

He's best known for playing young heartthrob Edward Cullen in "Twilight".

But he says fans will get to see him in a very different light in his new movie:

"I guess that the part in Twilight was such just a specific part, I never understood it, it's like every single part you do after Twilight is completely different from it. But this was so far away from it."

In "The Rover" Pattinson plays a hapless criminal, who's taken hostage after a robbery goes wrong.

It's set ten years in the future in a lawless Australia.

Guy Pearce joins Pattinson in the film and sees a successful career ahead for his co-star.
