GI Joe Enters A New Era
After 5 action packed years of serving his country in all 4 branches of the armed service, GIjOE was honorably discharged from the military, and began the next phase of his career as an Adventurer. While that may be a good story, in reality, the Hasbro toy company was seeing a decline in GI Joe sales due to the anti-war climate of the late 1960's. They decided that change was needed if the GI Joe line was to continue to flourish, so in 1969, they switched gears and began producing a new line of G.I.Joe products. The new series was called " The Adventures of GI Joe'."
Gone were the Action Soldier, Action Sailor, Action Marine and Action Pilot, and in their place were three all new adventurers who were ready to tackle the most menacing challenges on the globe.
The original source tapes for the voice of the Talking GI Joe' Astronaut were lost or destroyed long ago. Rather than attempt to re-record the voices from a vintage Astronaut, they conducted extensive research and found the man that did the original voice recordings for all of the Talking GI Joe's in the 1960's. They brouhgt him into a recording studio and had him re-record the classic Talking GI Joe Astronaut messages.

After the voice demo of Talking Astronaut I thought that the web cam was off. I had begun to take the toy apart, GI Joe's talk box pull string was all the way out and not retracting. As you may have noticed.
So I decided to leave some of the over run in, so that you can sort of see how this new Joe' is put together. He is very old school GI Joe on the inside. Legs, arms, and neck joints are held in place with heavy bands and metal hooks.
Many Moon ago before this reproduction talking G.I.Joe Astronaut was born Hasbro had moved to attaching grommets to the arms and neck joints to keep the Joe's together.
