Venezuelan government accused of rights violations

Venezuela’s government has been accused of violating the rights of opposition protesters through rough beatings and illegal detentions.

At least 41 people have died including both government and opposition supporters since protests began in February.

Human Rights Watch called their report “ Punished for Protesting”.

The demonstrations started in protest over crime, inflation and product shortages but quickly developed into a call for the government of socialist President Nicolas Maduro to quit.
