Obama visits Malaysia's National Mosque

STORY: United States President Barack Obama visited the Masjid Negara, National Mosque of Malaysia on Sunday (April 27).

Obama met the Grand Imam Tan Sri Syaikhi Ismail Muhammad at the Masjid Negara.

He also joined the Grand Imam Tan Sri Syaikhi Ismail in paying respects to the former leaders of Malaysia at the royal mausoleum, near the Mosque.

Malaysia is the third leg of Obama's four-nation trip in Asia.

Obama is scheduled to hold bilateral talk with Prime Minister Najib Razak later on Sunday in Putrajaya as well as address the participants of Young Southeast Asean Leaders Initiatives (YSALI) at the University of Malaya.

The issue of Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement is high on the agenda.

Obama is the first U.S. President to visit Malaysia in nearly 50 years, since Lydon B. Johnson visited in 1966.
