Woman jumps from Oakland stadium stands, saved by ex-US Marine

A woman leaped from the top seating deck of the O.co Coliseum in Oakland, Calif. this past Sunday, critically injuring herself and a man who heroically saved her from certain death, according to local police.

About 15 minutes after the Raiders match with the Tennessee Titans was over, a woman appeared on a ledge in a restricted area of the stadium.

"She stood for a couple of minutes facing the parking lot, looking over the second-deck concourse about 50 feet below", says Sgt. J. D. Nelson, a police spokesperson.
When she jumped, one man below, who happened to be a former US Marine, lunged to try and catch her, not unlike a wide receiver making a play for a 'Hail Mary' pass at the end of a game.

"We don't believe that he knew her from anybody else going into today, but just out of the goodwill of his heart, he tried to save her life," Nelson said. "No doubt he saved her life, at least for right now."

The woman's reasons for jumping are unknown currently, and her identity is being withheld in the ongoing investigation.
