Swedish singer Tove Lo talks "Truth Serum"

Swedish electro-pop artist Tove Lo's new EP hopes to appeal to international audiences with her songs about heartache and break ups. Tove Lo (real name Ebba Tove Elsa Nilsson) described her music as "pop, but you know, a bit rough round the edges, like very honest lyrics", "in your face" and "raw" while promoting her debut EP "Truth Serum" in London, which was released earlier this month (April 2014). The pop star rose to fame after self-releasing her first gritty single "Habits" in April 2013, where she sings about having to "stay high all the time to keep you off my mind." She began a career in music as a songwriter, working alongside producer and songwriter Max Martin and penning lyrics for the likes of Girls Aloud and Icona Pop before making the transition to singing, which she said she finds cathartic.
