Mont Blanc region fears further landslides, possible tunnel closures

Temperature changes caused an ongoing series of landslides in the Alps over the weekend that disrupted traffic on highways in the region. More avalanche warnings remain in force, with the Mont Blanc tunnel, a major transport route linking France with Italy, especially vulnerable. It was closed several times on Sunday. Some 80 people were evacuated from the village of La Palud on the Italian side near Courmayeur.
