Sgt. First Class James Vester reportedly planned to buy an iPad as a Christmas present for his parents, but was instead shot and killed on the west side of Indianapolis by two teenage brothers who are now being charged with murder and robbery.

James Vester, 32, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Wyckford Commons apartment complex, 900 Wyckford Drive, near West 10th Street and North Girls School Road at around 4pm. Vester, who is from Lizton, Indiana had driven 20 miles to get to the apartments. He was trying to buy an iPad from someone he contacted on Craigslist, a family friend and authorities said.

Vester was killed by Tyron Kincade, 19, and Tyshaune Kincade, 18, who have both been arrested.

Vester spent much of his life in service. In 2006, he served a tour of duty in Iraq. Vester had just started a new job as a military mechanic and was helping his wife Jamie with her new career. Vester also leaves behind 1-year-old son Gavin.

Tyshaune Kincade was arrested around 7pm on Thursday after a traffic stop in the 7500 block of Pendleton Pike, according to a police report. He was driving a 1998 white Buick without a license, and the car's plates were registered to another car. Authorities confiscated three cellphones found inside the vehicle and two more found in Tyshaune's pockets. Details were not given about the arrest of Tyron Kincade.

The brothers face charges of murder and robbery in the death of Vester. They are being held without bail in Marion County jail.
