14 killed and 130 injured in Mansoura police building explosion

At least 14 people were killed and 130 wounded when two explosions struck a police building in Mansoura, Egypt at around 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday (December 24).
A blast on one of the top floors of the five-story building was followed by a nearby car bomb explosion. Several vehicles on site were destroyed and part of the police building collapsed following the bomb explosion.
According to reports, head of the security directorate of the Dakahlya province governorate was among the injured. Most of those killed were policemen, whose bodies have been buried under the rubble of the collapsed building.
The bombing comes roughly a day after the jihadist group Ansar Jerusalem based in Sinai called on members of the Egyptian police and security forces to leave their positions in the secular government.
"We are the most resolute and determined to carry out the command of Allah and His Messenger to do jihad against you and fight you until all religions is for Allah," the group declared in a statement.
Attacks on soldiers and policemen have been on the rise in Egypt since the army ousted the elected Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in July this year. Many of these attacks have been reported in Sinai, which borders Israel and the Gaza Strip. About 200 soldiers have been killed since Morsi was forced out of office.
