Greeks Defy Ban on Athens Protests and scuffle with Police

Despite protests being banned by authorities due to the Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings in Athens, some 7,500 anti-austerity demonstrators held three separate protests.
Shortly after 8 pm, there were clashes between the protesters and the riot police.
Police security measures in the center of Athens were particularly tight, with riot police vehicles blocking the main streets of the center.
SYRIZA MPs were at the forefront of the protest.
Eurozone officials today urged Greece to capitalize on its painful austerity sacrifices.
On Friday April 11th 2014, Athens is preparing to welcome German Chancellor Angela Merkel with draconian security measures, closed roads and again protests ban.
