One San Francisco fan captured a video of a police officer putting a chokehold on a drunken man at the Giants home opener on Wednesday.

Three Giants fans were reported to be acting drunk and belligerent after their team started off with an early deficit to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Police removed the men in handcuffs and escorted them to the main concourse. One of the men became upset and the escorting officer placed him in a chokehold.

A witness filmed the officer's maneuver which also captured the audio reaction of onlookers. "He's not fighting back," somebody can be heard saying. "They are going to kill him," said another.

The officer is also seen talking to the restrained man prior to the man's compliance. The three unruly fans were removed from the stadium but were not given citations.

The SFPD does not "conduct choke holds" according to police spokesperson Albie Esparza. He referred to the hold as a "carotid restraint" which he described as "approved training by the SFPD academy and used by the SFPD."
