A baby in Houston was recently handed over to firefighters. The adorable 5-month-old girl was taken to the fire station by a woman claiming to be the child’s babysitter.

The female, who wishes to be identified solely as Alysha, said she and a friend were approached by the mother at about 3 in the morning while they were all on the street. They agreed to give the mom a ride to a local motel where she and the baby were living.

When everyone got there, Alysha realized the infant had been left alone. Alysha and her friend took the infant for the night, believing the mother needed to get money for diapers. She was supposed to call in the morning to pick up her child but the phone never rang.

When the afternoon rolled around with no contact, Alysha took the child to Fire Station 35 in southeast Houston. A Houston Fire Department spokesman stated ‘She was clean, in good health, with good color and good body weight.’

Medication that was dropped off with the baby indicates that her name is Lily. An authority with Child Protective Services said they know who the mother is, but have not yet been able to locate her.
