Amazing Chris Columbus in Sunny Days Ep. 66 - Skateboarding

Metro Family,

As I near the end of my twenties, I realize more and more each day what is important to me. Skateboarding was something I gave up well over a decade ago - An injury took me out for a few months, high school shit happened, and at the age of eighteen I committed to six years serving our country. I don't harbor regrets, but it's not something I am entirely proud of. It wasn't until rediscovering my personal freedom at the age of twenty-five that I was able to step back on a skateboard - Mentally, that is. It was instant love, all over again. Since then, I have applied my passion for photography and film towards what I love doing every single day: Spending time outside with friends, exercising, being creative in ways that challenge me, and overcoming obstacles. Sunny Days is something I started a little over a year ago with my large group of amazing friends in Sunnyvale, California. We just wanted to skate every day, have fun, and film ourselves doing so. Metro, being the home of passionate and innovative underground skaters, gave us a home. Filming my friends and putting out an edit for you guys every single week has been one of the most rewarding, satisfying, and challenging projects I've subjected myself to, aside from this one. The past six weeks, I've passed the camera off to my friends and had them film me. I have been having so much fun on my skateboard, and I wanted to put myself through the difficult process of filming a part that I've been on the other end of for my entire time spent on board. I'm a filmer, and I take my filming very seriously. However, skateboarding as an act reaches much deeper into who I am, and the way I feel about it is often ineffable. One thing is sure: I will always love skateboarding. I am not losing it again. I want to thank all of my friends who held me down during this project. Thank you for filming my skating. I want to thank every single person I've ever skated with, and every single person who skateboards. Metro will always be my home. Thanks for taking the time to watch me riding my skateboard. Much love,

Chris Columbus
