Man Allegedly Steals Couch From Store, Later Returns for Matching Cushions

According to cops in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a man stole a couch from a furniture store and returned less than a week later to swipe cushions and a rug.

Michael Deon McClerin is the male suspected of the bizarre crime. He was recently arrested, but not for the furniture theft. Instead, he was taken into police custody for being a felon in possession of a firearm, after cops allegedly found him with a gun.
Charges pertaining to the stolen goods are forthcoming, as authorities are still investigating. On March 3rd, someone broke into Gorman’s Home Furnishings and made off with a very nice leather couch valued over 65 hundred dollars.

Law enforcement believes 41-year-old McClerin is behind both of those thefts along with numerous other high end furniture heists from other local stores.
Evidence from the scenes led police straight to McClerin’s girlfriend’s home. There they found a receipt for a storage unit. When cops went to the facility to investigate, they retrieved about 100 grand worth of stolen goods, but the couch and rug remain missing.
