Chinese president Xi Jinping has finished his three day state visit to France. The trip saw around 18 billion euros worth of contracts signed between the two countries.

The Chinese leader and his wife rounded of their trip with a private dinner and classical music concert at Versailles on Thursday evening.

Amongst the 50 trade agreements signed in France was a deal for Airbus to supply 70 jets to China, worth around 7 billion euros. There were also contracts in the nuclear and financial sectors and the car industry.

France hopes to rebalance its trade deficit with China that last year topped 25 billion euros.

Xi Jinping will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and President Joachim Gauck in Berlin on Friday.
