STORY: U.S. President Obama said Russia could face wider sanctions if it moves further into Ukraine, while stressing a desire for diplomatic solution.

He said Western nations are considering the architecture for additional costs and additional sanctions should Russia move into other parts of Ukraine.

"Should Russia go further, such sectorial sanctions would be appropriate, and that would include areas potentially like energy, or finance, or arms sales or trade," he said.

Obama's remarks came at the conclusion of a nuclear summit in the Hague where world leaders called for countries to minimize their stocks of highly enriched nuclear fuel to help prevent al Qaeda-style militants from obtaining atomic bombs.
