U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama met school children in the southwestern city of Chengdu on Tuesday (March 25) during her seven-day China trip focused on education.

She kicked off her visit to the Chengdu Number 7 High School with a speech to students in which she showed her support to families of passengers aboard a missing Malaysia Airlines plane.

"On behalf of myself and my husband, I want to say that our hearts go out to all those with loved ones on Malaysia Airlines flight 370. As I said this past weekend when I spoke at Peking University, we are very much keeping all of them in our thoughts and our prayers at this tremendously difficult time," the First Lady said.

In her 20 minute speech, Obama also talked about the importance of investing in future generations.

After the speech, Obama visited an 'English Classroom' in the school, where she sat between students as she spoke to others in English via teleconference.
