A woman in Westville, New Jersey recently confessed to causing the death of a beautiful toddler. In 2011, 36-year-old Sheila Polanski was the babysitter of 2-year-old Madeline McHenry.

Polanski pleaded guilty in court to charges of aggravated manslaughter in reference to the child’s death. Madeline was pronounced dead in the summer of 2011.

It was then that EMTs responded to the toddler’s home and noticed fresh bruises on Madeline’s body. The victim had been left on the living room floor.

At first, Polanski denied all responsibility and claimed the little girl sustained the injuries by falling.

However, later, she confessed to shaking and forcibly slamming Madeline against the floor because she wouldn’t stop crying. Polanski also admitted that she did not call 911 right away after Madeline became unresponsive.

Madeline’s parents hired Polanski because of her excellent résumé and references. What they were not aware of was that Polanski is on medication for mental health problems and has a previous criminal record.

Polanski’s sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place on May 2nd of this year. The State is recommending a 12-year prison term.
