Hsieh Yi Fang (謝宜芳), the newly anointed winner of Taipei's Cherry Blossom Princess beauty pageant has faced an onslaught of criticism from netizens in recent days.

Many are crying foul play after the victory by Ms. Hsieh, whom netizens have called 'ugly'. Going as far as to insinuate she somehow managed to rig the system through supposed ties to the pageant's sponsors or other influential figures.

Conspiracy theories aside, the main reason many fans appear to be upset is because they seem to think Ms. Hsieh isn't particularly attractive. With one detractor going as far as to call her uglier than a grizzled, old prostitute.

Ms. Hsieh has since publicly acknowledged the harsh criticism, noting that it doesn't bother her in the slightest and proclaimed that everyone is unique in their own, special way.
