A 32-year-old British woman, who had just returned home from a backpacking trip in Cameroon, inadvertently brought back an unwanted souvenir. Nora Serrat had no clue she was carrying around a massive venomous huntsman spider in her luggage.

Making matters even worse was the fact that the spider was pregnant and carrying an egg sac filled with about 400 babies. Prior to the shocking discovery, Serrat had spent the previous two weeks in the Cameroon rainforest, which is a native area of Huntsmen spiders.

Serrat was able to capture the creepy crawler with help from colleagues and walked away from the ordeal unscathed. Reflecting on the incident, Serrat commented "It jumped out of the sleeping mat but we captured it with a carton box….It’s not an impossible thing to happen considering the places we visited – but it was still a bit of a surprise!"

Once the spider was safely contained, Serrat and her co-workers from the Rainforest Foundation UK charity contacted the Zoological Society of London at London Zoo for help. Zoo authorities took in the said-to-be ‘feisty’ spider and will reportedly be caring for the pregnant huntsmen.
