A speeding tour bus swerved into an embankment on a snow-covered highway in southwestern Pennsylvania this weekend, injuring 27 people.

The tour bus, owned by Freedom Excursions, was carrying 33 passengers to Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Cumberland, Maryland from Altoona, Pennsylvania.

The bus was was negotiating an "S turn" on Route 220 when the driver lost control and the vehicle rammed into an embankment.

A state police said the bus was traveling at a speed "that was greater than is reasonable and prudent for the condition," as the snowy weather had made the road icy and slippery.

Twenty-seven people, including the 65-year-old driver, were injured and sent to two nearby hospitals. None of the injuries were life-threatening, and all but three have been discharged.

Bus operator Freedom Excursions has not made any public announcements regarding the crash so far. Authorities have not said how fast the bus was traveling when the accident occurred.

This was the second bus crash in Pennsylvania in five months. In October, one person was killed and four were critically injured when a Greyhound bus carrying 49 passengers rammed into the back of a tractor-trailer truck while traveling from New York City to Cleveland, Ohio.
